For one moment the world stood still.
Their eyes met across the crowded hall,
as they had done so many times before,
But this was different,
This was something more.
Hands clasped in the darkness,
Fingers on skin,
Each touch burning through the senses,
Waiting for the kiss that would surely bring
Eyes cast down,
Shame in their hearts,
confusion rushing through their minds.
Hoping that neither remembered,
what they had done.
Eyes meet across the room,
A smile flickers in the darkness,
The words are spoken,
The reply is yes,
A kiss is planted,
so gentle her heart explodes,
Hope for something beautiful returns,
And at last they feel free from their pretending,
No longer afraid to admit how they were feeling.
And for one moment the world stood still.
